Josie Keefe | 6 days ago

by Slava Mogutin

For this installment of Artist in Residence, we check in with Slava Mogutin, whose work is currently on display in the NYC project space as part of the joint exhibition with Maripol, Intimate Portraits. Slava has also shown his work in the NYC Project Space as part of 2011’s exhibition in collaboration with the East Village Boys, For Personal Use. But after some practice and more research I finally got the hang of the film, and analog photography in general. I think I threw myself into photography because it felt very therapeutic to me. It gave me the realization that no matter what is going on in life there is always something beautiful surrounding you. Once you realize that you become more aware of your surroundings. Suddenly, you notice a lot more rainbows and see skies you have never seen before, or maybe just never noticed. It’s really a beautiful escape for me.

Since I can remember, I’ve been drawing. I have a box filled with every drawing from my youth (thanks Mom). I honestly never thought about drawing on my Impossible photos until the “Make Your Mark” contest. It was...Read All
